Can you check out my website?
Sure. I'd love to check out your website. In fact, I'm asked this all the time… at meetups, over email, through referrals, even at backyard BBQs.
And to be clear: I encourage the question. If you care enough to ask, you're already ahead of the curve. But the truth is, "checking out your website" doesn't mean what most people think it means.
Yes, I can look at your homepage. I can poke around and spot obvious issues, like slow load times, broken links, or confusing navigation. But that’s not SEO. That’s a surface-level UX critique. Helpful, but incomplete.
What real SEO work involves is far deeper, far more strategic. It's competitive research, data interpretation, and mapping a plan that aligns with your business goals, not just traffic volume. It means looking beyond your site and asking:
What keywords do your ideal clients search for?
Who currently ranks for those terms, and why?
How authoritative is your site compared to your competitors?
Are there technical issues blocking Google from indexing your content?
Does your site content align with what search engines reward and what your audience needs?
This kind of work doesn’t happen in an afternoon. It doesn’t get spit out from a free tool or a fancy audit PDF. It takes time (often weeks) and it requires the kind of context that only emerges after conversation, research, and exploration.
I know that sounds less sexy than a slick one-click audit that many SEO agencies provide, but it’s also the reason why my clients get results that last. The truth is: most SEO problems aren’t solved by magic checklists. They’re solved by clarity, consistency, and a willingness to dig deeper.
So yes, I’d love to check out your site! But know that what I do is more than just taking a look. It’s rolling up my sleeves, understanding your market, and building a strategy that actually helps you grow.
